About USS AviationConsulting

(c) USS AviationConsulting

Aviation isn't just my profession. It's in my DNA.

Aviation runs in my family, pilots and flight attendants among them. I grew up on airports, and kerosene has essentially flowed through my veins since childhood. That personal connection to the industry brings a passion to everything I do that goes well beyond professional expertise.

In 1989, I joined INFORM - Institute for Operations Research and Management GmbH and spent the next 36 years building the company's Aviation Division from a single airport project into a leading global provider of resource management optimization solutions for aviation ground handling. We grew into the most comprehensive solution provider in the space worldwide, with systems used by airlines, airports, and ground handling organizations across every major region. That journey gave me something genuinely rare: deep operational knowledge of how ground handling actually works, combined with an equally deep understanding of how the software that runs it is built, sold, and implemented.

The pattern I kept seeing, decade after decade, across countless operations, is that the gap between what a digital system or transformation initiative promises and what it actually delivers in practice is one of the most persistent and costly challenges in the industry. Understanding why that gap opens, and how to close it, became the foundation for USS AviationConsulting.

What I do

Advisory services across the full ecosystem for two sets of clients, each with their own set of challenges.

Ground handlers, airlines & airports

Supporting digital transformation, or diagnosing why your current systems aren't delivering the ROI you expected, and charting a clearer path forward.

Digital and technology solution providers

Helping you understand why your product isn't being adopted as intended, where could the match to the real-world be improved, and building growth strategy: which segment to expand into, which region to target, or how to sharpen your ICP.

The overarching goal, in every engagement, is to help organizations meaningfully improve their performance in ground operations.

Why work with me

Forward-looking by nature.

I'm genuinely passionate about what new technology makes possible. I bring that curiosity into my work, particularly exploring how AI can improve the daily lives of allocators and operational teams on the ground.

Pattern recognition.

Across 36 years and countless operations. I can tell quickly which problems are genuinely unique to your organization and which are industry-wide patterns with known resolution paths, because I've seen both, many times over.

I've sat on both sides of the table. I've built the software that had to work in real operational environments, and I've worked with the operators who depend on it. That dual perspective is where the most useful insight lives.

Deep market knowledge, no vendor loyalty.

I have extensive knowledge of the ground handling software landscape, vendors, products, and real-world fit. And I have no implementation revenue or vendor relationships at stake, which means my recommendations are genuinely independent.

Senior throughout, without large-firm overhead.

No rotating junior teams. You get one expert, directly engaged, in every conversation and every engagement.

Rooted in Germany, shaped by an international upbringing, I've always been at home across cultures. That naturally carries into how I work: curious about different perspectives, comfortable in diverse environments, and genuinely invested in the people I work with.

I hold a Dipl.-Kff. degree (equiv. M.Sc.) in Business and Economics from FernUniversität Hagen and a MatSE degree (Mathematical Technical Software Developer) from RWTH, Aachen University. A combination that gives me both the business and technical depth to work at the intersection of ground operations and digital systems.

If you'd like to explore what this could mean for your organization, a first conversation is always straightforward to arrange.
